The Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this world-famous park of nearly 2 000 000 hectare is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and is a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. The park is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles 507 birds and 147 mammals. On the wild plains of African savannah the visitor may have intimate encounters with lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, hippo, crocodile, rhino, impala and giraffe, offering excellent photographic opportunities.
Mala-mala is a vast reserve which boasts the biggest privately owned tract of big game country in Southern Africa with over 200 species of game including the "Big Five". Luxury accommodation, tailor-made game drives are available. Walking safaris may also be arranged.
